Dandelion vineyards is a venture between marketing gurus Zar Brooks and Brad Rey, with Zar’s wife, Elena as the winemaker. ‘When I see a weed I see the Devil' is an old viticulturalist's mantra, which makes the labelling of this wine rather quizzical. However, at Dandelion vineyards, we're told they actually encourage the dandelion to grow amongst the vines as it suppresses winter weeds and provides mulch in summer.

‘A rich powerful Barossa Shiraz that delivers a level of fruit concentration well beyond its price point, all wrapped up in a sumptuous plush mouthfeel.’

The fruit for this wine is sourced from selection of Carl Lindner’s old vine vineyards (some being up to 100 years old) with maturation taking place French oak barriques, of which 25% were new, for a period of 18 months. Totally opaque inky black colour with a very deep dark crimson red black hue. Aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries and liquorice show good intensity with some underlying meatiness, cedar and spice. Rich and full bodied the palate possesses plenty of volume with opulently textured flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum that flood every corner of the palate underpinned by some very well integrated vanillin oak and spice. Silky smooth, very polished tannins. Very long aftertaste of ripe blackberries, liquorice, subtle vanillin oak and spice.
Cellar 5-6 years (2019-2020).
Alc 14.0%
