2012 Conde Valdemar Gran Reserva

For 124 years, five generations of the Bujanda family have produced some of the finest wines from Rioja. It was Joaquín Martínez Bujanda who started the company with 10 hectares of vines in Rioja Alavasa and over the years the estate has expanded to include vineyards across the region.
A blend of 85% Tempranillo, 7% Mazuelo, 6% Graciano and 2% Garnacha aged for 30 months in a mixture of French (70%) and American (30%) oak barrels. Deep black dark red core with a dark red hue. Pronounced liquorice, dark raspberry and black cherry aromas are interwoven with vanillin oak, earthy mocha, leather and spice notes. The medium bodied palate is flush with liquorice and black raspberry fruits which meld into a back drop of earth, vanillin oak, spicy mocha and leather. Slightly chewy mouth feel with integrated yet grainy tannins. Concludes long and savoury.
