Clarendon Hills are without doubt one of Australia’s top exponents of Grenache delivering powerful wines of exceptional richness and structure that have the ability to age. Described by Robert Parker as "...one of planet earth's greatest winemakers" Roman Bratasiuk and son Alex take their inspiration from the classed growths of Bordeaux and the great Shiraz and Grenache wines of the Rhone Valley. Located in the Clarendon sub region of McLaren Vale, the Clarendon vineyard is located on the cooler, more shaded south/south westerly side of the hill at around 310 metres where the soils are shale, ironstone and quartz. At 50% off this is rare opportunity to sample back vintage Old Vine Grenache at its best.

Rich and voluptuous with explosive power and a sculptured finish.

Deep very dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Intense dark to black raspberry and liquorice scents leap out of the glass with subtle notions of black cherry, vanillin cedar, earth and light spicy leather also evident. Rich, full bodied and voluptuous, the fruit is holding up magnificently – lavish black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice flavours driving the sumptuous palate. Vanillin cedar, earth and spicy pepper characters also chime in. Superb concentration and power with a muscular tannin structure leading into a sculptured finish. Very long and super moreish aftertaste with some light grip adding further intrigue.
Outstanding drinking over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 14.5%
