2012 Carn Mor Strictly Limited Caol Ila 8 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Tasting note: Eight years in x-oloroso butts initially tempers the nose, but the core Islay personailty gradually surfaces: Barbeque sauce, cured meats and lanolin are set against raisin cake and baking spices. Sherry means the phenols are less assertive; Still, the delivery remains undeniably Caol Ila. Complex layers of dark chocolate, lanolin and baked citrus arrive with a maritime lick. The finish is dry, ashy then salty and spiced-up. Peat carries the aftertaste. 47.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 1365 bottles.

Notes from the bottlers... Very big punch of peat with subtle fruity notes and a long silky finish.
