2011 Wilson & Morgan Ardmore 5 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Ardmore have maintained the use of aromatic smoke from natural, Highland peat fires to dry their malted barley and remain one of the few Highland distilleries to do so. This 'Heavily Peated" indie edition was distilled in 2011 and bottled 2016 by Wilson & Morgan.

Tasting note: Pale gold. A salty edge to the phenols, backed up by citrus, lanolin, with time in the glass evolving hints of baked apple / pear and baking spice as the smoke retreats. Not half as peaty as you might expect, but definitely very pure and fruity all the way to the end, where wood smoke and white pepper pick up the trail. Quite elegant for all its youth. 48% Alc./Vol.
