2011 Vasse Felix Shiraz

This wine is made primarily from the oldest Shiraz vines in Margaret River and is fermented in small batches and matured in French barriques (12% new, 88% 1-3 year old) for a period of 18 months.

Totally opaque black crimson red colour with dark crimson black tinged hue. Heady aromas of liquorice and blackberry arise from the glass followed by some toasty vanillin confectionary and meaty blackpepper end notes. Medium bodied the palate delivers a classy flavour profile of liquorice and blackberry intertwined with some meaty characters followed by some confectionary and blackpepper on the back palate. Slightly dryish but very fine grained tannins provide good structural support to the refined fruit profile. Elegant refined mouthfeel with long liquorice, blackberry, dried meats and pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years (2018-2019).
