2011 Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

A blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 6% Malbec. Each of the varietals were treated differently with the Cabernet parcels under going a suitable duration of maceration to extract a fine backbone of structural tannins and blackcurrant laden fruit. The Merlot fruit underwent cold pre-fermentation maceration and were pressed off skins early to maintain a soft luscious mouthfeel. The wine was aged in French oak of which only a small percentage was new with the balance being 1-5 year old.

A classic Margaret River blend that showcases the strength of the vintage for these classic Bordeaux varietals.
Opaque black dark red colour with dark crimson red black hue. Perfumed nose with blackcurrant and mulberry aromas overlaying dusty cedar, bay leaf and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate possesses the vintages trademark richness with mouthfilling flavours of ripe mulberry and blackcurrant with some underlying cedar, light tobacco leaf and spice. Very fine grained yet at the same time supportive tannin structure. Excellent depth with long ripe mulberry, blackcurrant, cedary tobacco and spice aftertaste.
