2011 Te Mata Estate Woodthorpe Vineyard Syrah

Matured in a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for a period of 9 months, this Syrah was also co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier. Semi translucent bright crimson red colour with crimson mauve hue. Aromas of dark cherries, meaty characters, some light clove and spice. Quite light in weight the palate possesses subtle flavours of dark cherries, meaty earth like characters and spice. Elegant mouthfeel with soft very fine grained tannins. Modest depth and concentration with aftertaste of dark cherries, meaty earth and spice.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
