2011 Summerfield Merlot

Deep dark red to brick red colour with a brick red hue. Aromas of dried cherry and mulberry are quickly overcome by prominent dried clove and tobacco notes followed by earthy leather characters. Soft and slippery in texture what remaining fruit there’s left is quickly swamped by dried clove and tertiary characters of leather and earth with a touch of spice also evident. Dryish finish with soft fine grained tannins. Moderate aftertaste of dried cloves, old leather, earthy black olives and spice.
