Gemtree’s Phantom red is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Mourvedre, 15% Petit Verdot and 10% Merlot. Opaque black dark red colour with dark red hue. The nose shows good intensity with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, dark plum and dark chocolate followed by some vanillin cedar and spice. Full bodied the palate opens with ripe blackcurrant and liquorice flavours followed by some cedar, earth and spice. Firm assertive tannins impart a chewy mouthfeel and cut the wine short. Dry finsh with aftertaste of blackcurrant, subtle liquorice, cedar, earth and spice.
