Classic.

Olivier Zind-Humbrecht is one of a handful of vignerons who have gained the title of 'Master of Wine', while succeeding in making wines that transcend the traditional boundaries of their genre. It is the culmination of viticultural achievements of his father, Leonard, a man of contagious energy, who took on the task of rediscovering and rehabilitating historic terroirs on unforgiving land. Today, these vineyards form one of the most enviable collections of Grand Crus and historical Lieux-dits in the region. Leonard was one of the first to dramatically reduce yields in the vineyards, with 30-35 Hl/Ha being his norm to achieve greater flavour concentration. In line with his father's pursuit of excellence, Olivier initiated the conversion to biodynamics in the late 1990s and achieved full certification in 2002. Not merely a marketing exercise, the move reflected Olivier's views that the diversity and typicity of Alsatian terroirs would be better emphasised when placed within a balanced ecosystem. Tasting note…
Brilliant pale straw colour with very faint greenish tinge around the edges and watery hue. The nose exhibits exotic perfumed scents of rose petals, lychee, tropical fruits, some musk and spice. Possessing excellent weight, richness and mouthfeel the palate delivers flavours of lychee, musk and Turkish delight followed by some honeysuckle and a spicy back palate. Medium dry finish with some residual sugar present. Long luscious aftertaste of lychee, musk and spice.
