Like Port Charlotte, "Rhinns" is actually another name Bruichladdich use for a version of their heavily peated distillate, typically around 30PPM. It was named after Rhinns of Islay Lighthouse, built by Robert Stevenson in 1825. While the sherry seems to have countered some of the aromatics, the palate explodes with sweet and smokey dried fruit flavours backed up by a flurry of warming spices. The sherry comes through thick and fast at the finish, leaving you with Medjool dates, hints of brandy cream sauce, fruit cake and port-soaked pipe tobacco. If you like Lagavulin's Distiller's Edition, you should find similar pleasure here. 68 bottles from a single octave. 56.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
