Matured in a combination of 80% new and 20% 2-3 year old French oak barriques for a period of 18 months. Totally opaque inky black purple colour with deep dark red purple hue. The nose offers up scents of blackcurrant and dark mulberries followed by some cedar, subtle tobacco leaf and a touch of spice. Full bodied the palate possesses rich ripe blackcurrant and dark chocolate flavours with some underlying cedar and a spicy back palate. The firm solid tannin structure is a necessity to carry the abundance of fruit. Long blackcurrant, dark mulberry, chocolatey cedar and spice aftertaste.
