Pirathon is an ancient word for pinnacle with Shiraz considered to be Barossa’s pinnacle grape variety. Winemaker Troy Kalleske considers the 2010 vintage to be outstanding  – one of the best of the decade. It was a steady vintage with ideal warm Autumn days and cool nights resulting in perfectly ripened fruit that was picked at optimum time. Sourced from a variety of Barossa’s top sub districts including Greenock, Moppa, Belvedere, Stonewell, Seppeltsfield, Koonunga and Ebenezer the wine was matured for 18 months in a combination of new and seasoned American, French, Russian and Hungarian oak hogsheads.

Yet another ripe flavour filled Barossa Shiraz from Troy Kalleske that delivers great value.

Totally opaque black dark purple colour with black dark purple hue. The nose displays excellent intensity with lifted ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum aromas followed by some confectionary and spice. The palate is full bodied but youthful with ripe, dark blackberry, dark plum and dark chocolate flavours and a spicy back palate. Fine grained, although slightly dryish tannins. Long ripe blackberry, dark plum and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2015-2016).
Alc 14.5%
