2010 Edradour Quinta de Sao Francisco Estremadura Wine Finish 15 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Edradour’s eclectic 'wine finish' explorations continue to surprise. This oddity was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2025 after a 33-month finish in Portuguese Licoroso-style fortified wine from the Quinta de São Francisco Estremadura estate. It sees the whisky take on a rich, unctuous character, similar to a PX (sweet sherry) finish, though perhaps a bit spicier and more tannic. As with all high-end Edradour releases, it's non-chill filtered and natural in colour, boasting a spectacular auburn hue. 57.7% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... Nose: Sweet, dark cherry, dark chocolate, spices, oak | Palate: Sweet, spicy oak, dark cherry, some dark berries, dark chocolate | Finish: Medium to long; sweet notes, dark cherry, dried cherry, some spices, a hint of chocolate and oak linger. | Conclusion: An intense, cask-forward whisky. It's a bit fizzy. You can play with water. This slightly fizzy note, which comes from the alcohol, is the only thing that bothers me a bit. Otherwise, a thoroughly good whisky, with plenty of dark notes. - whiskybase.com
