2009 Mr Riggs The Gaffer Shiraz - Museum Release
Please note: Due to the age of this wine, some bottles may show signs of advanced maturity and we recommend enjoying it sooner rather than further cellaring.
Named in honour of John "The Gaffer" Riggs (1814–1902), the great-great-great grandfather of winemaker Ben Riggs, The Gaffer Shiraz was created to celebrate more than 150 years of the Riggs family's farming heritage in South Australia. A highly respected farmer who settled in the Gawler district during the 1850s, John Riggs helped establish a legacy of hard work, innovation and stewardship of the land that continues through the family today. Produced from McLaren Vale fruit, The Gaffer has become one of the cornerstone wines of the Mr Riggs range. Since the 2006 vintage, every bottle has featured the wine's distinctive pink capsule in recognition of the winery's ongoing support of cancer research through its partnership with the Flinders Foundation.
