2009 McWilliams Barwang Hilltops GDR Cabernet Sauvignon
'2011 Stodart Trophy Winner'
A perfect example of how this region can produce some of the most intensely flavoured and structured, and perfectly balanced red wines. The vineyard is planted on ancient Cambrian soils situated on the west facing slopes of the Great Dividing Range, and the well protected and low-yielding vineyards of Hiltops ripen slowly during long autumn days.
This Barwang Hilltops GDR Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the Stodart Trophy at the Royal Queensland Wine Show for its inaugural 2009 vintage. The trophy is Queensland’s equivalent to Melbourne’s Jimmy Watson Trophy.

This vineyard in the high country of NSW and in this very hot vintage, the cool climes resulted in perfectly ripened fruit. This has elegant and stylish varietal characters of light leaf and intense blackcurrant and minerals. Has terrific structure with firm tannins and excellent oak.
