A blend of 55% Grenache, 37% Shiraz and 8% Mataro with all the grapes sourced from Kalleske's organic farm. To retain the fresh fruit flavours of the Grenache, the wine spent only 10 months in old casks, minimising the influence of the oak.

In 2009 Kalleske have done it again with this superb Rhone inspired blend.

It displays an opaque black, dark crimson colour with dark red hue. The nose delivers a perfumed sniff with lifted dark raspberry and blackberry aromas followed by some confectionary, liquorice allsorts and a touch of spice. Medium to full bodied, the palate is ripe and 'joosy' - raspberry, blackberry, dark plum and liquorice flavours abound with some blackpepper on the back palate. The soft, opulent mouthfeel is counterpointed by a velvet like tannin structure. Long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice and blackpepper. When the last vintage of Clarry's hit the tasting bench, we were expecting the wine to sell close to $30, such was the quality.
Drink now or cellar 3-4 years (2010-2014).
