The distinctive labels of the Glaetzer portfolio hold special significance when you view this stunning collection of wines as a family affair. The entry level Bishop Shiraz is named in honor of Ben's mother, Judith (Bishop being her maiden name). The label bears the sign of Venus, which has come to represent women and feminine energy - though this wine is hardly feminine.

A very impressive and youthful Bishop that has all the qualities to evolve into a Pope

Glaetzer sources fruit for the Bishop from the Ebenezer district of the Barossa valley from low yielding 35 year old & 120 year-old vines. He finds the fruit from younger vines contributes freshness & vibrancy, while Shiraz from the older blocks provides structure and depth. Maturation took place in a combination of 90% French oak and 10% American oak for a period of 14 months. The wine has now had several months in bottle and is really beginning to shine.

Opaque black crimson colour with deep black crimson hue. The nose is perfumed displaying intense, refined aromas of blackberry, liquorice, dark plum, confectionary and blackpepper. A superb sniff. Possessing both concentration and power the palate boasts opulent flavours of liquorice, blackberry, confectionary, dark plum and blackpepper. Excellent length and structure. Very fine grained tannins with very long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice, spice and blackpepper.
Cellar 4-5 years (2014-2015).
Alc 14.5%
