2009 Claxton's Warehouse No.8 Strathmill 12 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Claxton's up the ante by filling young Strathmill into a PX octave. This heads into whisky liqueur territory: Dates, fig chocolate and fruit cake, layered on in a heavy-handed fashion so as to pretty much obscure any distillery character. At least on the palate, the sherry recedes a little at the finish, but only by a few degrees. The Strathmill never had a chance. Still, many will adore this for its sheer exuberance and definitive wine pick up. Cask strength at just 45.1% Alc./Vol. Only 76 bottles. Non chill filtered.
