2009 Clarendon Hills Brookman Syrah

Sourced from old, dry grown vines planted in 1920 the wine was matured in a matrix of 70% new, tight-grained French Oak with the balance being 1-4 year old barrels for a period of 18 months. Outstanding super saturated inky black purple colour with very deep dark purple hue. The nose displays lifted ripe blackberry and dark plum as top notes followed by some liquorice, subtle toasty oak and spice. Densely textured and very concentrated the palate delivers opulent mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry and dark plum followed by some dark chocolate, liquorice and spice. Velvet smooth tannins. Superb depth with long ripe blackberry, dark plum, chocolate, liquorice and spice aftertaste.
