2008 Yeringberg Cabernet Blend

A superb Yarra Valley Cabernet produced from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot that has filled out brilliantly since our initial tasting approximately 12 months ago.

Retasted May 2011:
Very deep dark crimson red colour with dark crimson red hue. The nose is both intense and alluring with perfumed aromas of violets, blackcurrant and mulberry followed by some cedar overtones and a touch of mint. Full bodied and quite rich for a Yarra Valley Cabernet, yet still controlled the palate delivers perfectly ripened mouthfilling flavours of blackcurrant, mulberry and dark cherry with some cedar undertones and spice on the back palate. Generously textured with superb depth and concentration. Very fine grained perfectly balanced tannin structure. Very long ripe mulberry, blackcurrant and spicy cedar aftertaste.

First Tasted July 2010:
Opaque dark crimson red colour with deep dark crimson mauve hue. Perfumed aromas of ripe blackcurrant, plum, cedar and spice followed by a hint of cigar box. Medium bodied the palate displays flavours of blackcurrant, liquorice, spice and cedar. Fine grained but firmish tannins provide good structure. Excellent depth with long aftertaste of blackcurrant, spice and cedar.
