Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
$140. 00
Bottle
$1680.00 Dozen
ABV: 48%

Tasting note: [15ml sample] Typically weighty, especially on the nose, PX adding a restrained sweetness to the knife and fork finish. Lots of mixed fruits. With water - Summer pudding. An engaging Linkwood reminiscent of Ben Nevis in its beefier moments. Finished for seven months in a Pedro Ximenez Sherry cask. 48% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... When using fresh Pedro Ximenez casks the rule is not to overwhelm a gentle and floral Speyside malt and to use a light hand. This example was finished for just 7 months before bottling. It is light bodied but firm, it evokes a wide range of fruity notes: Nose: Blood Orange and orange rind, red apple, red berries and just a bit of raisins and nutiness. Needs a bit of time to open and breath in the glass, after which strawberries and cream, and red jelly crystals are found. Palate: Fresh berry compote on the palate to begin with turns to liqueur chocolates and jersey caramels. Berry danishes and shortcut pastry. Finish: The wine character doesn’t overpower the finish like some of the PX drams getting around. The crisp, dry nature of the Linkwood spirit is apparent throughout, just dressed in fancy clothes.
