2008 Spirit Thief Distilling Co. Benrinnes 11 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (500ml)

Spirit Thief began as a passion project of two bartenders that suddenly grew into something bigger. While the Hobart-based project distill and mature their own whisky, they're also sourcing and bottling from Australia and overseas. In this case it's a young but high strength Benrinnes from a Bordeaux red wine cask. Distilled in September 2008, Benrinnes enthusiasts will note the year marks the beginning of a new era, when after 33 years of partial triple-distillation, the distillery returned to double-distillation in 2017. Cask #1700253 is a full maturation in a 1st fill x-Château Gruaud-Larose cask (Saint-Julien). Bottled all-natural, expect aromas of marzipan, custard crème and chamomile tea, with deep lashings on the palate of dark chocolate, baked peaches, rock candy and a subtle hint of umami to finish. 55.2% Alc./Vol. 360 bottles.
