2008 Signatory Port Dundas 16 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Grain whiskies take decades to fully mature, so 16 years is fairly young. But for the price and quality ratio said to be found here, you wouldn't overthink taking a punt. Sherry snobs should also keep an open mind, as second fill oloroso casks were used instead of x Bourbon. The former usually amp up the body of grains. We might remind you too, that Diageo ceased production at Port Dundas in 2010 and demolished the site in 2011, so this was distilled in the very final years of operation. All up, consensus from the blogger-sphere indicates a value buy. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... Oak spices, dried fruits, grapes, cereals, herbs, toffee, nuts. Medium slightly dry finish and the 46% abv is integrated decently. The balance between the spirit and the refill oloroso butts is nice. It lacks a bit of depth and complexity but that is expected of a young grain. - whiskybase.com
