A blend of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier from the outstanding 2008 vintage, this superb Champagne was sourced from Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards and saw a minimum of 8 years on lees.
An exuberant mousse slowly subsides into a pale straw coloured base that has an exceptionally fine and very persistent bead streaming through it. Sophisticated and expressive the nose offers up citrus, chalk and yeast lees aromatics over baked bread, almond and emerging honeyed cashew like notes. Refined and sculptured with an airy feel the palate is layered with bright citrus and pear fruits which meld into yeast lees, toast, subtle honeyed cashew like characters, ginger and faint hazelnut. Dry, chalk tinged finish with taut like acidity evolving into a long elegantly creamed aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 12%

Other Reviews….
Disgorged in March 2018, the 2008 Extra-Brut Vintage from Ployez-Jacquemart is showing brilliantly, unwinding in the glass with aromas of citrus zest, confit lemon, pear, brioche and mandarin. Full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with an incisive spine of acidity and a pearly mousse, the quality of the vintage here puts this on the same level as the house's two tête de cuvée bottlings in their portfolio of current releases. The blend is 50% Chardonnay, with the balance equal parts Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Drink 2020-2040.
