Matured for twelve years in a hogshead then finished in a first fill Oloroso Sherry quarter cask. The nose anticipates a thick malt matched by rich oak influence. Oloroso comes through nicely; bitter peel and (almost) a touch of 'Old Fashioned' amid the fruit-cakey notes. Five minutes air contact accents a nutty / malty aspect. Tactile, complex and distinctive with a deliciously rich, malty middle. Digestif biscuits? Fruit'n'tnut chocolate? Perhaps a touch of salinity to the nutty, dark chocolate finish. This one really works. A very satisfying little Dufftowner indeed. 53.1% Alc./Vol. 178 bottles. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: A deep and rich start with sticky malt loaf, Pedro Ximinez sherry and antique furniture. Under the sweetness there’s layers of spice with a focus on Xmas baking and mulled fruit. Palate: A mouthcoating oily texture on the characterful palate carries the weight and the many layers of spice and sweetness. Notes of red apple, black cherry and cough candy make way to a chocolate and mocha character. Finish: Long, complex and dry tannins now lead with notes of black coffee and high-quality dark chocolate. A peppery warmth and oak style linger with a very late hit of vanilla and liquorice.
