2008 Glen Eldon Wines Merlot

A very ripe jammy Merlot.
Deep dark red colour with dark brick red hue – quite advanced for a 2008 wine. Aromas of dark chocolate, liquorice, vanilla and spice. The palate is rich and filled with sweet ripe fruit but bears little resemblance to what one would normally associate with the flavour profile of a Merlot. Palate flavours of plum jam, dark chocolate and liquorice with a strong vanilla overlay. Very soft tannins with aftertaste of dark chocolate, liquorice and spicy vanilla.
Drink now (2011).
