2007 Adelphi Glenrothes 8 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Young yet extraordinary Glenrothes - sourced from a first fill sherry cask and limited to 312 bottles.

Tasting note: Deep polished copper/ thick legs – looks fabulous in the glass. Slightly vapoury spirit conceals heavy and dense aromas, less the sulphury edge of last year’s release – only minor off notes showing hints of latex. Coaxing further accents oatmeal, walnut cake, choc fudge, burnt raisin toast; five minutes turns this almost rum-like with crescendoing sugars - honey cornflake crackles and rich vanilla. A monster, with seemingly unfathomable bittersweet depths for such a youngster. Honey drizzled oatmeal and vanilla pulse through the finish with brandy cake and ginger. Concludes momentarily tannic, but the underlying sweetness goes on and on. Must try. 67% Alc./Vol.
