2007 Plantaganet Cabernet Sauvignon

The fruit for this Cabernet was predominately sourced from Plantagenet’s older vineyards, the 37 year old Wyjup and 39 year old Bouverie vineyards, along with a small contribution from the more recently planted Rocky Horror vineyard. Small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec were included in the blend to provide roundness and complexity.

Opaque crimson black colour with crimson black hue. Lifted notes of violets and cassis followed by truffle, spice and a touch of cigar box. The palate displays good concentration with flavours of ripe blackcurrant, cassis and spice followed by some cedar and cigar box back palate flavours. Excellent depth of flavour. Fine grained dryish, but balanced tannins provide the wine with good structure. Long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, cedar and spice.
