Wow! Look at the spectacular colour of this indie Craigellachie. Typically a sweet, mouthfilling, oily, fruity and spicy whisky with a sulphurous edge, the distillate is usually x-Bourbon matured. We've never encountered one as sherry influenced as this. A finishing in a very active Pedro Ximenez puncheon yielded 654 bottles at 58.3% Sure to be quite a talking point in any blind tasting. Non chill filtered.
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Toasted oak, treacle toffee and caramelised Demerara sugar. Palate: Rich and densely flavoured. Liqueur-esque. Brandy snaps, dark chocolate and Morello cherries. Intense raisin and sultana. Quite a peppery note at the back.
