The wine was matured in French oak barriques of which 50% were new, 30% 1 year old and the balance 2 years old for a period of 18 months. Deep purple crimson colour with purple mauve hue. The nose displays lifted notes of cedar, violets and blackcurrant followed by some cigar box end notes. Medium to full bodied palate with flavours of ripe cassis, cedar and spice followed by a touch of tobacco, but without great length or persistence. Fine grained, dry, slightly chalky tannins. Aftertaste of cedar, spice and tobacco.
