As there's only one official bottling (the Flora & Fauna), this is always a malt we look forward to tasting. Some whisky writers consider Benrinnes' style as going against how a Speyside whisky is 'supposed' to taste: Generally described as big bodied and savoury with dark chocolate and pepper, many also note a distinct 'meatiness'. Charged from one refill hogshead, Douglas Laing's twelve year old is reported to be full bodied, with ginger bread and toasted barley flavours followed by sweet citrus, Madagascar Bourbon vanilla and toasted biscuits. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 371 bottles.
