2007 Cape Naturaliste Vineyard Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
A near perfect synergy of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc
The Cape Naturaliste property was originally the site of a coach inn for travellers journeying between Perth and Margaret River on horse and buggy some 140 years ago. It wasn’t until 1997 that a 9 hectare vineyard was planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
An outstanding example of this signature Margaret River blend.
Made from 50% Semillon and 50% Sauvignon Blanc, Cape Naturaliste employ a biodynamic/organic approach in the vineyard. Bright pale water like colour with water like hue. Superb lifted nose with passionfruit top note, followed by spice, ripe gooseberry and ripe tropical fruit, showing strong varietal lift. Mouthfilling palate with layers of gooseberry, passionfruit and tropical fruit over a background of anise. Clean acid finish. Very long aftertaste of passionfruit, ripe gooseberry and tropical fruit. A superb wine.
