This wine was named after the Australian Prime Minister, Bob “Pig Iron” Menzies. Labour stalwarts may choose to pass on this wine from a political point of view, however, that would be a serious mistake. One has to be magnanimous and acknowledge that all sides of Australian political landscape have made worthwhile contributions to the Australian economy and way of life. Produced from vines planted in 1975.
It’s welcoming to know our ‘pollies’ can get things right from time to time!
Very deep, almost opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Superbly perfumed nose of violets, dark chocolate, spice, cedar and blackcurrant. The palate delivers a classic Cabernet profile, with flavours of spice, black pepper, blackberry, cedar and mint all evident. Outstanding length and depth. On the back palate some cigar box flavours emerge which linger into the aftertaste. Perfect balance, with fine grained tannins and exceptionally long aftertaste.
