2006 Single Malts of Scotland Orkney 16 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

A 2022 release from Elixir Distillers, sourced from a famous Orkney distillery which can't be disclosed. Everyone knows these bottlings are from Highland Park (the distillery is even pictured on the label), but brand protection, premiumisation, heritage, 'quality control' etc, and other reasons only marketing departments can explain mean that it can't be labeled as such. Alternatively, as Angus from whiskyfun points out, the secrecy "may be an admission by the owners that the independents are doing a better job of bottling their whisky than they are." This edition is one in a series of HP's from SMOS, which have a history of high quality, apparently drawn from a Bourbon barrel. The outturn was 253 bottles at 59.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill-filtered.
