2006 R.L. Buller & Son Calliope Shiraz

This big ripe Rutherglen Shiraz was aged for 24 months in new and one year old American oak puncheons. Totally opaque black dark red colour with very deep dark red hue. The nose displays very ripe lifted notes of liquorice, black plum and Christmas cake followed by some dark chocolate overtones. Huge rich palate with opulent flavours of black cherry, dark chocolate, liquorice dark plum and spicy Christmas cake. Slightly firmish, but fine grained tannins, in balance with the enormous levels of fruit. Medium to long aftertaste of black plum, dark chocolate and Christmas cake.
Drink over the next 3-4 years (2011-2015).
