2006 Penfolds Bin 311 Tumbarumba Chardonnay

Unlike many of the Penfolds reds the Bin 311 is sourced from a single region, the region selected each vintage will differ depending on vintage conditions and fruit quality. 2006 was an excellent vintage in Tumbarumba allowing for optimal flavour development. The wine was bottled with minimal filtration and matured for 8 months in a combination of one, two and three year old French barriques.

This is the second release of the Bin 311 Chardonnay. Bright straw colour with green tinge and pale straw hue. The nose displays both elegance and finesse. Top note of yeast lees, followed by cashew, hazelnut and light toast, showing excellent varietal character. The palate displays both complexity and a degree of sophistication. Flavours of biscuit, cashew, white peach and citrus are evident. Light yeast lees back palate flavours. Lees and white peach aftertaste.
