2006 Oakridge Chardonnay
The Oakridge winery was established in 1978 by the Zitzlaff family at Seville, in the southern area of the Yarra Valley. In 1998, a new 1100 tonne winery and visitor centre was established. In 2001, the winery merged with Evans and Tate – which turned out to be a disastrous move. Today the winery is back in private ownership and under the guidance of David Bicknell.
An impressive Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley.
Bright straw colour with pale straw hue. Top note of peach, followed by spice, hints of fig, melon and cashew showing some yeast lees and complexity. The palate is refined with flavours of yeast lees, cashew, hazelnut and honeycomb evident, followed by a crisp acid backbone. The wine has impressive length. Creamy texture. Aftertaste of hazelnut and melon.
