2006 Glaymond The Distance Shiraz - Museum Release
Please note: Due to the age of this wine, some bottles may show signs of advanced maturity and we recommend enjoying it sooner rather than further cellaring.
The 2006 Glaymond releases marked the emergence of a highly promising Barossa estate, with winemaker Damien Tscharke producing a collection of wines that quickly attracted international attention. The Glaymond vineyards were planted in 1961 by Tscharke’s grandfather, Gerhard Tscharke, on the Western Barossa Ridge in Seppeltsfield, surrounded by renowned producers including Torbreck, Greenock Creek and Kalleske.
The Distance Shiraz was made traditionally, with open-top fermentation, basket pressing and 23 months maturation in new and seasoned French oak. Fruit was sourced from a spectacular site also supplying premium fruit to producers including Rockford and Peter Lehmann, with Chris Ringland acting as consultant winemaker.
