2006 Antinori Peppoli Chianti Classico

Produced from a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot & Syrah. The wine is matured for 9 months in a combination of 90% 55hl Slavonian oak barrels and 10% American oak barriques. The larger Slavonian oak casks are used to preserve the fruit flavours and sweeten the tannins whilst the American oak component adds some aromatic complexity.

Deep crimson mauve colour with crimson mauve hue. Aromas of dark cherry, violets and cedar followed by a hint of new leather – quite perfumed. Medium bodied with flavours of dark cherry, spice, cedar and leather followed by some earthy mineral notes on the back palate. Fine grained very dry tannins. Spicy dark cherry, leather, earth and mineral aftertaste.
