2006 5 Maddens Lane Old Riddell Cabernet Sauvignon

This elegantly styled Yarra Valley Cabernet is the work of Mac Forbes, previously wine maker at the iconic Mount Mary Vineyard.

A classy example of a cool climate Cabernet
Matured for 22 months in French oak, it displays an opaque dark crimson red colour with deep dark crimson brick red hue. A very Bordeaux like sniff, the nose reveals refined aromas of blackcurrant, mulberry and violets with a cedary background. The palate is elegant, medium weight and yields blackcurrant, mulberry and cedar flavours with a spicy back palate and a hint of cigar box also emerging. Excellent length. Very fine grained, slightly dryish, but balanced tannins. Long aftertaste of cedar, mulberry and spice.
