Tin Shed was founded in 1997 by Peter Clarke (chef and part owner of Vintners Bar and Grill in Angaston) and viticulturist Andrew Wardlaw. We first met Andrew whilst he was travelling around Victoria, sussing out the States top Shiraz producers, picking up tips on how to make stunning Shiraz in the Barossa Valley. The pair made their first wine in a tin shed and matured the barrels in the underground basement of Andrew’s father’s house. The wine was “mollycoddled” from hand picked, hand matured grapes that underwent a wild ferment with minimal additions. The Melting Pot Shiraz was made from fruit, sourced from a number of small vineyards in the Eden Valley. To add complexity to the wine, a small percentage of Mourvedre and Grenache was added.

Mollycoddled From Beginning To End, This Is An Outstanding, Complex Barossa Shiraz!

An outstanding Tin Shed Shiraz. Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Top note of blackberry, liquorice allsorts, vanilla and spice showing plenty of ripe Barossa fruit. Generous palate flavours of ripe plum, black pepper, spice, blackberry and vanilla. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance. Very long aftertaste of blackberry, vanilla and black pepper.
Cellar 3-4 years (2011-2012)
Alc/Vol: 15%
Stelvin

Other Reviews.....
A stunning offering, the 2005 Shiraz Melting Pot reveals flamboyant aromas of cassis, black pepper, licorice, and espresso roast. This medium to full-bodied, pure, rich Shiraz offers another example of the seamlessness of this vintage.
