2005 R.L. Buller & Son Calliope Shiraz

A powerful Rutherglen red that was matured for 24 months in new and 1 year old American oak puncheons. Opaque dark red black colour with very deep brick red hue. Lifted aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate, liquorice, confectionary and spice. The palate boasts great weight and concentration. Dark chocolate, blackberry and liquorice flavours are followed by some vanilla and spice on the back palate. A touch of heat comes through on the finish. Firm but fine grained tannins provide the wine with a good framework. Aftertaste of black cherry, dark chocolate, liquorice and spice.
Drink over the next 3-4 years (2010-2014).
