2005 Journeys End Vineyards Watervale The Return Riesling

The Clare Valley is renowned for its exceptional Riesling. The warm days and cool nights contribute to the development of the variety’s flavour profile, giving it the strong aromatics and an acid backbone that will ensure cellaring. The Journeys End Riesling has a freshness that makes it a perfect match with fresh sea food – particularly King George Whiting.

A magnificent Riesling - and one of the very first to hit the market. We tasted this wine as a tank sample some 2 months ago and were impressed by the freshness and varietal power. The finished wine is everything that we expected and more. Made by Ben Riggs, the wine reflects the exceptional fruit quality of the 2005 vintage.

Brilliant pale straw colour with green hue. Classic powerful Clare Riesling nose - aromatic notes of orange blossom, lime and citrus over a floral background. The palate is mouthfilling, bursting with intense varietal flavours. Strong lime and lemon flavours are dominant over an orange background. Clean acid finish, with exceptionally long lime, citrus aftertaste. Winemaker Ben Riggs takes Riesling to a new level.
