2005 Clarendon Hills Piggott Range Vineyard Syrah
Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Showing strong cling to the glass. Lifted top note of violets, spice, blackberry and dark chocolate. The palate is relatively tight, but balanced. Black and white pepper flavours are followed by dry fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of black pepper and spice.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Cut from the same mould as the Hickinbotham, but even more backward is the 2005 Syrah Piggott Range. Revealing a liquid minerality intermixed with creme de cassis, smoke, roasted meats, and blackberries, this enormously endowed, powerful, hefty effort boasts a huge texture as well as a long finish.
