2005 Blackjack Chortle's Edge Shiraz

In 1998 Black Jack vineyard was devastated by frost and in order to maintain cash flows the Black Jack owners decided to buy fruit and create another label. The fruit was purchased from Chortle’s Edge Vineyard in Bendigo, whereas the 2005 fruit comes from 2 vineyards. The first from the Fielding Family Vineyard in Harcourt, the second from Turners Crossing in Bridgewater. Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Top note of liquorice followed by blackberry, plum and a hint of violet. The palate shows some restraint, with flavours of plum and liquorice to the fore. Fine grained tannins, over a spicy background. Stewed fruit and spice aftertaste.
