A Magnificent Expression of This Traditional Australian Blend

A blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon and 31% Shiraz which was matured for 23 months in a combination of French & American oak of which 52% was new.
Magnificent colour – opaque black crimson with black heart and very deep black crimson hue. The nose displays impressive intensity with aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, blackberry and liquorice with some spice end notes. An excellent sniff. Medium to full bodied palate displaying great refinement and structure with flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, liquorice, cedar and spice. Fine grained but firm tannin structure with long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, spice and cedar.
Alc 13.5%

Other reviews....
This wine still has a fair way to go; essency and concentrated black fruits are complemented by a fairly substantial amount of cedary oak; the wine is gloriously complex and multilayered, and despite its raw power, shows great restraint; it needs time to fully come together, an issue that is dependant on the cork doing its job. Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz. Drink by 2040. Tasted May 2010.
