2004 Pyren Vineyard Block E Shiraz

The Block E is Pyren Vineyards top Shiraz block. Opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Aroma of dark chocolate, spice and liquorice. The palate delivers good weight, with flavours of ripe plum and cherry to the fore. Fine dry slightly chalky tannins. Aftertaste of plum, stewed fruit, spice and white pepper.

First tasted, October 2005: An impressive Shiraz from the Pyrenees. Opaque black purple colour with deep purple hue. The nose shows good varietal lift with aromas of liquorice allsorts, plum, spice and vanilla. Mouthfilling palate flavours of vanilla and plum to the forefront, followed by strong black pepper and spice back palate flavours. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance. Aftertaste of plum, blackberry, black pepper and vanilla.
