An impressive, spicy Sangiovese, but with more tannin structure than the 2003 and just a touch less fruit! Bright crimson mauve colour with mauve hue. The nose displays good varietal lift. Aroma of spice and cherry followed by a hint of liquorice allsorts. The palate is drier than the 2003, with flavours of cherry and spice emerging over a sour cherry, raspberry and white pepper background. The back palate remains very spicy. Aftertaste of cherry, spice, raspberry and liquorice.
